Carol Wahlstrom received a BS from North Park University, and an MS from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where her major was psychiatric nursing and community mental health.
Her career has included a variety of roles in psychiatric nursing, working with all age groups in both the hospital and community settings including a clinical instructor at Northern Illinois University School of Nursing and 30+ years as a clinical therapist.
She has recently worked in a private counseling practice in Naperville, Illinois where she saw clients with concurrent medical and mental health problems and is now based in Ottawa, IL.
Ms. Wahlstrom is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society, and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. Her research interests are empathy and stigma. She is an active participant developing the School of Nursing Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
She is a Past Member of the Social Ministry Committee, Northern Illinois Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the Board of Directors, Alternatives to Domestic Violence. She currently volunteers as a Sunday School Coordinator at Trinity Lutheran Church.
